The Sunday Salon: St. Patrick's Day Edition

Good morning! Happy St. Patrick's Day, happy last weekend of winter (according to the calendar anyway), and happy Selection Sunday (the official beginning of March Madness). Time is short this morning and I'm way behind on blog reading, so here's a quick recap.

The week that was:
- we started a huge interior painting project
- Spring break and eye surgery for Twin B
- the Big East Tournament (SU fell apart in the finals)
- I finished reading/listening to Vanity Fair

The week ahead:
- more painting
- choose pendant lights for kitchen
- select color for upstairs bathroom
- follow-up doctor's appointment for Twin B
- book club
- lunch with an old friend
- Twin A's break begins

Reading goals:
- finish The Picture of Dorian Gray (classics club spin book)
- read Tomorrow There Will be Apricots
- return to Savage Beauty
- find a replacement for google reader - any suggestions?

Today:
- catch up on blog reading
- bake a Chocolate Guinness Cake
- watch Selection Sunday - where will SU go for 'the big dance'?
- St. Patrick's Day dinner with my family
- and can I mention again how much I'm loving #EstellaGram?

There is no green outside my window, but that's not unusual for St. Patrick's Day in central New York. Are you wearing green today?

  1. I guess my face is a little green, does that count? I have been under the weather over the last day or so, and also ill thinking about the insanity of the next week. Sounds like you have one of those as well!

    1. Staci - Estellagram has been so much fun. Will look forward to your next batch of photos. It looks like we'll be in the 30's all week... so much for spring!

  3. {OK, if this comment turns up twice I apologize, because I don't know what the heck just happened to the first one.}

OOPS. No, um, wait, I'm wearing brown, in honor of the peat and the stout and the potatoes. Does that count?

    I think your week looks jam-packed and productive. I hope your daughter's doing well. My big project last week was looking for a new lightbulb for the first time for my kitchen pendant (I've never even seen one of those mini bulbs before) and wondering what doom would befall me because I read the 'DO NOT TOUCH THIS LIGHT BULB WITH YOUR BARE HANDS' long after I did. {It's much less interesting now that I know the reason(s).}

    Have a great week!

    1. Audrey - Perfect St. Patrick's Day fashion alternative - brown for peat, stout, and potatoes! It's much more flattering than bright green anyway ;-)

I remember being shocked when I first saw that warning for those tiny halogen bulbs in my under-cabinet lighting, too..hee hee.

  4. Happy St. Patrick's Day! we have lovely spring green here in Houston - though the lack of rain makes it all a bit dry already. Your weeks past & present do sound busy!

    1. Lisa May - We will have to wait another month (at least) before there is much green around here. Have a great week!

  5. I've been enjoying your Estellagrams :-) and well done finishing Vanity Fair.

I'm trying Feedly for the simple reason the transition was so easy and it seems fine. I'm not too good with sudden change so will take a while to adjust.

    1. Cat - I'll probably give feedly a try, too, but have also heard good things about Old Reader.

  7. Yes, that Google Reader thing has me worried too. I've become WAY too dependent on it. I'll be watching out for replacements in the next few months. *crossing fingers*

Happy St. Patty's Day to you!

    1. Trish - I resisted Google Reader for the longest time, now I don't think I can live without it!

  8. Yes, I'm wearing green. My mom who was of English/Scottish blood would never admit to having any Irish blood (however, a peak into some genealogy is proving her wrong). And yet, she always cooked corned beef and cabbage on Saint Paddy's Day.

And what am I eating right now? Chips and salsa of course!

    1. Lilea - That's funny! My brother-in-law has become the official corned beef and cabbage chef in the family.

  10. I want to make a Guinness chocolate cake! I was going to go with Feedly for my reader but have decided Old Reader is what I want. There's a long queue but I'm confident my feed will be transferred successfully.

  11. I don't know how I'm going to replace Google Reader either. I've seen quite a few people recommend feedly but I haven't tried it yet. Who has the time!!
