BBAW: Setting Goals

Today's task:
It’s time to show off! Tell us and this is really important, in 50 words or less what you love best about your blog! And then in 50 words or less where you want your blog to be by the next BBAW! Ready? GO!

Likes:
As most of you know, I love the lake! I'm happy that it's featured prominently, both in the name and header photo of my blog. I like that I've found some sort of pattern for my posting (although it's been less than evident these past few weeks). I also like that responding to comments has lead to some great conversations.

Goals:
There are so many technical aspects of blogging that elude me, so one goal is to improve my basic skills. Another is to find a better balance between reading and blogging. I love blogging and visiting other blogs, but most of it is done at the expense of reading time. I'm sure a happy medium exists ...I just need to find it!

Wrap-up:
BBAW has been a great opportunity to both celebrate blogging and reflect on the part it plays in our lives. A year ago, I never thought I'd even have a blog, now I go through withdrawal if I am away for a day. What a great community, thank you!

  1. I was feeling the same way about time spent blogging cutting into reading time. The conversations about the books that I love has enhanced my reading experience ten-fold. By promising myself to limit the number of blogs that I visit I'm hoping to keep things in balance...but it's not easy.

  2. Darlene - There's got to be a better way to balance, but thanks to BBAW there are even more blogs I want to visit!

Marie - This has been a great week. Thanks for becoming a follower!

Diane - I'll be keeping the lake in the header ( I love the photo!), but may try to have a new one for each season.

  4. reviewsby lola - I just read your goals, and we are very similar. I'd be happy with 50 books this year though. Ideally, I'd like to review one book and one short story every week.

  5. Haha, when you find that happy medium, let me know! I'm eager to finish Shirely right now. You'll notice I did just about nothing yesterday, in order to work on writing (for me and for school). It's hard. I'm following about 18 blogs, trying to at least glance at them, and also trying to read and write. Whoa! My goal is to balance, as yours is, and really boost my blog. It's heard to want to get moving in three different directions!

  7. I love the idea of trying a different picture of the lake for each season!

  8. I have been wondering if I need to have set hours for blogging or at least set a timer...time just seems to get away when blogging. I am with you on the technical aspects...seems I am happy with what I now until I encounter a problem and then it is just pure frustration.

Your blog is something special and I am so grateful to have 'discovered' it:)

  9. I LOVE your blog's look. The lake photo is so pretty with the blue design!

I have a history of constantly changing my layout. I think that's something I need to work on: finding one signature look and sticking with it. I'm pretty happy with the way my blog looks now so hopefully it'll stay this way for awhile.

  10. Madeleine - I guess we're all trying to find that happy medium, lol!

Gautami - The lake always has such a calming effect on me.

ds - Not much more swimming now without a wetsuit...that lake is starting to get cold!

verity - I like the idea of changing the photo as the view changes, too!

Book Psmith - I've been toying with a time limit or no computer hours. It seems like I can just spend an endless amount of time here if I'm not careful! And I think your blog is pretty special, too!

E.L. Fay - Thank you so much! I really like the lake with the blue pattern background, too. Your blog looks great now!

  11. Great goals. Mine are obviously similar. Now that I'm blogging, I can't imagine my life without it, but I don't want to sacrifice reading for blogging. I'll be looking for that happy medium with you. Best of luck.
