by David Nasaw (my thoughts)
2017: Cork Dork: A Wine-Fueled Adventure Among the Obsessive Sommeliers, Big Bottle Hunters, and Rogue Scientists Who Taught Me to Live for Taste by Bianca Bosker
2018: Forty Autumns: A Family's Story of Courage and Survival on Both Sides of the Berlin Wall by Nina Willner (my thoughts)
2019:... coming soon!
I've grown to love nonfiction more. I still talk about Just Mercy to anyone who'll listen. I'm worried about the movie version coming out.
ReplyDeleteKathy - My nonfiction reading has been steadily increasing over the years. The last two years it's been over 40%! Just Mercy was such a standout... didn;t know there was a movie in the works. Hmmmm.
DeleteWe just saw the preview at the theater. It has a great cast.

Stacy - So glad to hear that!!
DeleteThe Patriarch was wonderful!
ReplyDeleteTIP: if you enjoy reading about the Kennedy's
JFK and the Unspeakable: Why he died and why it mattered by J.W.Douglass. (2008)
I just finished it today....review end of this week on my blog.
Nancy - Thanks for the suggestion! I love reading about the Kennedy's but am not familiar with that book. Looking forward to your review already!
DeleteThe only one from the list that I've read is Lots of Candles, Plenty of Cake, which I loved.
ReplyDeleteVicki - Lots of Candles, Plenty of Cake is a favorite that has stuck with me over the years. It's also a book I would love to reread soon!
DeleteI definitely need to read more non-fiction so will have to take note of some of these!
ReplyDeleteIliana - My nonfiction reading has been growing steadily over the last 5 or 6 years. This year it was over 40%... and I had a hard time choosing favorites!
DeleteA great list! Thanks for sharing your 2019 favourites.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Shelleyrae :)
DeleteGreat list: I still need to get to Forty Autumns & Just Mercy ... which is coming to the big screen. I loved the Ann Patchett book which I think is her best one ... I like her nonfiction best.
ReplyDeleteSusan - Just Mercy was fabulous on audio! It's read by the author. Forty Autumns was also an audio favorite. As much as I love Ann Patchett's fiction, nonfiction may be her real strength.
DeleteGreat choices!! I haven't read Forty Autumns, but I guess I'd better add it to my list.
ReplyDeleteBeth F - Forty Autumns is excellent on audio... I highly recommend listening.
DeleteI love this list! I've read several that you noted, but there are others that I'm adding to my TBR list. Ack!! It's out of control!
ReplyDeleteLes - I think all of our TBR lists explode this time of year! All the year -end favorites and now all the most anticipated books of 2020. We'll never catch up!
DeleteI got Just Mercy for Christmas - now to find time to read it, what with library holds that have come in!
ReplyDeleteLisa - You will love it! The audio is also excellent.... and I've heard good things about the new film, too.
