Another Blogging Break
I thought this might happen. Life is busy, and about to get busier...
We traveled to Key West and the Everglades for my husband's birthday, are in the midst of major decision-making on the remodeling project, will fly to NY this weekend for a two-week Thanksgiving visit, and then drive our other car to Florida. By the time we get back, Christmas preparations will be in high gear. And then there's the day-to-day political drama... I feel compelled to keep up with every twist as it unfolds.
My reading time has evaporated. Nonfiction November, my absolute favorite blogging event of the year, is happening without me. It's time to hit the pause button for a few weeks.
I'll catch up with you sometime next month. In the meantime, Happy Thanksgiving to my friends here in the United States!

Enjoy your break....wonderful New England Thanksgiving holiday! My thoughts will be with you and my friends @home in Connecticut!
ReplyDeletePolitics? I'm glued to the news programs!
Thank you, Nancy. For the first time in 20 years we are not hosting the holiday dinner, but I will still make one of the traditional casseroles and a few pies. For better or worse, I am also glued to the news. Hope your hip healing continues!
Delete....I've been walking and biking
Deletebut if I could only put on my right sock without
some help from a shoehorn I'd be really happy!
I'll have to give it a few weeks!
Nancy - I'm sure you'll get there!!
DeleteI was thinking about you the other day, noting it has been a while. I would dearly love to take a blogging break for the rest of the year but I still have a pile of books to review and post from my last few weeks of reading. Perhaps I will take a break after you come back. Enjoy your family, the holidays and remodeling!
ReplyDeleteJudy - I made the decision to stop accepting review books several years ago, so I have much more flexibility these days. I'll be back before the end of the year with my favorites lists, but doubt I'll have much time for real reviews or posts until the new year. Happy Thanksgiving!
DeleteHappy thanksgiving, JoAnn! and safe travels. I'm thankful for your friendship!
ReplyDeleteAudrey - Same here! I hope you have a very happy Thanksgiving. I've got a couple of ideas for reading projects... The Way We Live Now and The Forsyte Saga are near the top of my list.
DeleteI understand 100%. I remember those days of transitioning into a new home/location and how my reading time disappeared, as did my blog hopping. Completely understandable. I pretty much missed Nonfiction November, too, as my husband had an ER visit and hospital stay to deal with pancreatitis and gallbladder removal, followed by my mom's recent ER visit and hospital stay for pneumonia. Is it January yet?! Take care and we'll see you after the holidays.
ReplyDeleteLes - What a month! I'm so sorry to hear Rod and your mother have been sick. Hope they are both recovering quickly and in time to enjoy Thanksgiving.
DeleteThe remodel is already challenging and it's barely begun. Yesterday we realized the cabinet guy was working with incorrect measurements. Today we picked out appliances. Exciting!
Hope you and your family has a happy and healthy holiday season.
Thanks, JoAnn. It has been quite an exhausting and worrisome month. I slept 12 hours yesterday!
DeleteOh, dear. Doesn't your cabinet guy know the rule, "Measure twice, cut once?" Glad he realized the mistake. Have fun picking out appliances. It is exciting, isn't it?!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas. You will be missed around here. I'm working on my travel posts but will have a permanent link to them, if you don't have time to visit over the next few months. Take good care!
Les - This was just our first meeting with the cabinet guy and he somehow got the wrong measurements. I loved his plans because there was room for just about everything I wanted. When I went to the house to 'visualize' it was obvious something was seriously off. Thankfully, no decisions had been made. This will set us back time-wise though.
DeleteI saw your first post of the trip and admire your organizational skills!!
Hi JoAnn,
ReplyDeleteOf course it only makes sense to take a break from the blog.
And I will patiently look forward, hoping against hope, that you can return to us when the time is right for you. I will be thinking of you!
Judith - I will most certainly be back! Wishing you and your family a happy holiday season.
DeleteThe very same to you, JoAnn, in abundance!
DeleteJoAnn,
ReplyDeleteForgot to say how I love the photo for this post!
Oh my gosh, I know you’ve been crazy busy with the move so no worries on visiting blogs :-)
ReplyDelete(I just read you comment on mine)
I had to take a break for a bit- reenergize .
Yes to the political drama unfolding but I’m blessed and cursed all at once be not having satellite tv feed so I have to rely on the Internet news . I’d LOVE to watch some of the debates too... alas!
Enjoy your trip north and I’ll be looking for your new posts soon.
Oh, I started posting some on the nonfiction November but forgot to sign up with anyone hosting. Oh well!
Tina - I'm not sure whether not have the satellite tv feed is good or bad, lol... definitely pluses on both sides! Think I'm on overload right now... should made for an interesting Thanksgiving with relatives all over the political spectrum!
DeleteHave a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family back in NY. End of year reading is always hard for me as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Diane. I'm sure I'll get back in the groove by the end of the year. Hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season!
DeleteHappy Thanksgiving! Safe travels!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Angela. Hope you and your family have a happy Thanksgiving, too!
DeleteJoAnn: you have a lot on your platter these days. It's a good idea to hit pause. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with family & then the Christmas holidays too. Of course coming home to Florida will be a great reward. The political drama engulfs me everyday: can't we just get rid of him & Giuliani too?
ReplyDeleteThank you, Susan. Hope you have a happy holiday season, too. I'll have my list of favorites ready after Christmas... and will look forward to yours.
DeleteHope you and your family are enjoying the Thanksgiving holiday! Enjoy your blogging break!
ReplyDeleteIliana - Hope you've had a peaceful Thanksgiving weekend, too. Enjoy the holiday season... see you in a few weeks!
DeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you and happy blogging break as well. We all need a break from time to time and priorities shift and ebb and flow..that’s life!
ReplyDeleteI want to thank you for reviewing Save Me the Plums—I listened to it earlier this month and loved it and got a copy for my husband for his birthday this week. I can’t wait to try some of the recipes Ruth included.
Cheers!
Jane GS - So glad you enjoyed Save Me the Plums, too. I just downloaded the audio version of Garlic and Sapphires from my library, so it's up next for me. We'll see how it compares. Hope you'e had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!
DeleteYES! I'm telling you all the news has put a dent in so many things ... reading, doing my hobbies, even walking in the early evening. I can't tear myself away.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the holidays and all the new beginnings. I'm following along wherever you share.
Beth F - The news just keeps on coming! We're on the way back to FL now, then the holiday season shifts in to high gear. Hope you enjoy the season and I'll be back here before the end of the year.
