Quick Thoughts:
An utterly perfect, totally engaging summer read!
I loved this book from the opening paragraph to the very last line. The setting (1930's Manhattan and coastal Rhode Island), characters, story, and structure added up to my most satisfying reading experience of the summer. I was surprised when amazon offered such a new release as a "kindle daily deal" - this book is worth the full price.
Read the plot summary and more reviews at goodreads.
My rating:
Note: Amazon is offering the kindle book for $2.99 again today.... not sure how long this deal will last.
Wow, that is a great deal! This is a book I meant to read at the beginning of summer, but it got away from me. I'd like to try it again - maybe in the winter.
ReplyDeleteAnbolyn - Yes, it's definitely a bargain! I hope you get a chance to read it this winter.
DeleteHuh. I remember reading reviews and thinking that I couldn't prioritize this because I'm almost overwhelmed by what I need to read this fall. Since it is like freaking summer here in Florida 10 months out of the year though, I have more time! Haha!
ReplyDeleteSandy - Yes, no hurry when summer lasts all year! ;-)
DeleteThanks for you thoughts JoAnn. I've added this book to my "To Read" list!
ReplyDeletePat - I hope you like it, too!
DeleteWow! It sounds like I need to move this one up in my stacks.
ReplyDeleteKathy - Yes, definitely!
DeleteWow, five stars! I love that time period.
ReplyDeleteDiana - I love that time period, too... plus the combination Manhattan and Rhode Island setting :)

ReplyDeleteStacy - You're in for a treat!
DeleteI meant to read this one over the summer and it never happened sadly. glad u loved it.
ReplyDeleteDiane - There's always next summer ;-)
DeleteI need to pick this one up I guess. I can read summer beach reads any time of the year. And at that price, it's definitely worth it--thanks for letting us know.
ReplyDeleteRita - Such a good book at such a good price... gotta love it!
DeleteOh wow! Book praise doesn't get any better than that. I'll have to keep my eye out for a copy. Is it in print or just ebook form?
ReplyDeleteTrish - It's available in hardcover, too.
DeleteI did not get to this book yet, but am looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteNise' - I think you'll like this one, too!
DeleteI love the cover of this book and the setting sounds fantastic. I'm definitely checking out this book. So glad you enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteAmy - I love the cover, too. The only disadvantage of reading the ebook was that I didn't get to look at it often enough!
DeleteUtterly perfect? And now summer's over - I'll have to pick it up and save it for next May!
ReplyDeleteLisa - You could read it during the winter for an escape to summer, too ;-)
DeleteMy bookclub has picked this one as our October read so I'm glad to see you liked it so much. I picked up the audiobook and I'm looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteDarlene- You're in for a treat! I'm sure A Hundred Summers is wonderful on audio, too.
