Quote of the Week: The Big Rock Candy Mountain

You had to stay in a place to make it a home.  A home had to be lived in every day, every month, every year for a long time, till it was worn like an old shoe and fitted the comfortable curvatures of your life.

The Big Rock Candy Mountain
by Wallace Stegner
originally published 1943

The Big Rock Candy Mountain is my current audiobook, but with so many passages like this one, I ended up borrowing the paperback from  the library just to reread them.

  3. Great quote. And I totally understand having to get the paperback. I hate when I love a quote in an audiobook and then can't find it.

Carol - This isn't the first time I've had to get a print copy of an audiobook. Lots of quotable passages in this one!

Vivienne - Isn't that a great quote? It's been so cold this week, those cracks in the ice have frozen again :-(

Joan Hunter Dunn - I thought the same thing, and will include this in the next new home card I send.

Karen K. - I liked Angle of Repose, but I LOVED Crossing to Safety. Hope you get to read it one day... and I can totally relate to that TB pile.
