Teaser Tuesdays - 3/17/09

Teaser Tuesdays is hosted by MizB at Should be Reading and asks you to:

Grab your current read.Let the book fall open to a random page. Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12. You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given! Please avoid spoilers!

My teaser:

"In the dark corner of the public omnibus taking him back to Paris, Laurent put the final touches to his plan. He was almost certain of getting away with it. He was filled with a heavy, anxious feeling of joy, joy at having accomplished the crime."

From: Therese Raquin by Emile Zola, page 64 of the Penguin Classics edition

  2. I loved this book, but I didn't recognize the quote right away. I probably would have once I looked more closely at the name.

    Thanks, Teaser Tuesdays is fun!

    Lisa,
It's funny...that page was completely random and had a great teaser, too!

  4. Have you ever noticed that most characters named Laurent are up to no good???

  5. That's a great teaser. I'd never heard of the book, looked it up, was immediately taken to the wikipedia page - and couldn't stop myself from reading the entire plot summary - which does include spoilers. Bad Jo!

  7. Very good teaser. I'm familiar with the author but not this book. Sounds good from your teaser.

  8. I like me some Zola, but haven't read any in a while. This quote has suckered me in. Therese Raquin is going on the list. (And thanks for introducing me to Teaser Tuesdays.)
