Thanks everyone! I had such a nice Sunday. After a few hours reading, we went to the movies and saw The Artist - just hours before it won Best Picture. I'm really enjoying The Makioka Sisters. It's a slow, quiet book about a Japanese way of life that no longer exists in today's world.
Trish - There are four sisters in all (just like my family, only we have a couple of brothers, too). I am enjoying the book quite a bit, but it is very slooooow and quiet.
I'm so stealing this idea -- I've hardly posted lately and I have so much reading! The Makioka Sisters is on the TBR shelf though it has a different cover. I've been listening to Pride & Prejudice in the car so that may be a good choice for a follow-up.
Kare K. - Be my guest! I'd do this again tomorrow, but two weeks in a row might be pushing it. The Makioka Sisters is really a wonderful book, but a slow read for me.
:)))))) Love it
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture and yes, sometimes it's best to turn off the computer and just read.
ReplyDeleteI just love you.
ReplyDeleteThis book has been in my TBR pile for some time, so it will be interesting to hear what you think of it. - Fay
ReplyDeleteMust be a good book! Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteOh yes....I love those days and have been having more of them lately where I just don't feel like being on the computer!
ReplyDeleteI almost ordered this one through ILL. Let me know how you like it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect day! Did you enjoy it?
ReplyDeleteSounds heavenly! Hope you enjoyed it!

DeleteI'm glad you like The Makioka Sisters: it's waiting on my shelf but it's such a chunkster... :\ Shall I dare to pick it up this year?
ReplyDeleteGnoegnoe - Yes! Pick up The Makioka Sisters when you are in the mood for a slow, quiet book.
