    1. Kathy - Yes, we lost Zelda at the beginning of June... shortly after we got back from Florida. She hadn't been doing well a couple of months before that, but then declined rapidly. We miss her so much :(

  4. What a fun way to write about your August! Farewell once again to that lovely Zelda - rough start in life but, she was a queen with your family.

  5. Vicki - The red tide/algae blooms have been so bad! Not as many dead fish now, but conditions seem to change rapidly from day to day :(

  8. I love the format of this - such a fun way to look back over a month. The leaves started to turn here mid August also, and I'm interested in this vegetarian lentil chilli (I currently make my vegetarian chilli with sweet potatoes). Happy September!

  9. An A-Z of wonderful events and worrisome things, a well-rounded, fascinating combo.
I hadn't heard that this past summer was the most humid one on record, but I was hugely aware that this was the most humid summer we have ever had here. It was our 14th. No other summer even comes close to this one, in terms of humidity.
My favorite walking friend said that this summer reminded her of summers she spent growing up on Long Island. And it was all too reminiscent of my 50 summers living in the Boston suburbs.

    1. Judith - It was an incredibly tropical summer here with over 15 days above 90 - including today! Surprisingly, there were no record high temperatures. I had a lot of fun writing this post.

  10. Hope you enjoy Mysteries of Udolpho—I found it very readable, for the most part, and quite entertaining, which surprised me quite a bit, actually. :)

    1. Susan - The Grand Canyon has been a bucket list item for years... so happy it's finally happening! We won't get another dog now, but will think about it next summer.
