He didn't like you getting too close. I love the photo with the bird in flight.
Aren't they beautiful? I never get tired of seeing them, although I think we have more Herons in Florida than people. I saw one riding on the hood of a guy's car once. He didn't want to fly off, he was having fun.
Sandy - LOL! That's actually the only heron I noticed this trip… must not have been paying attention.
Is he demonstrating The Gravity of Birds? :)
Audrey - LOL!!!
Wow, that's a big bird. So elegant, too. This is a fantastic picture. I haven't been to many places in Florida but I've been to Sanibel and Captiva Islands and I'd be happy to go back to them again and again. I thought they were wonderful.
Amy - Sanibel and Captiva are both so beautiful! We have been visiting for 20+ years, ever since my in-laws purchased a condo on Sanibel.
Love the way he blends in as well. Great shot
One of my favorite birds. We have a heronry near our house and I can't wait to see the nursery in full swing again this spring.Great picture.
Love those birds. Great shots.
Just gorgeous! I hope your trip was wonderful!
Wow. You were able to get get pretty close!
It's a rare sight for me to see a heron. These are wonderful pics... esp. that you could catch it taking flight.
Arti - I wish I'd had a camera with me... these were taken with my phone.
