March Was...

A most unusal month weather-wise
Bulbs flowered before winter was over
Can it be global warming?
Don't think I've ever seen a hyacinth bloom in March before.
Even set up the patio furniture!
Family gathering for my nephew's confirmation
Group read of Clarissa continues,
Hope to catch up soon.
Ice cream stand opened early!
Just 43 days until Daughter #1's graduation
Know of any cheap apartments in Manhattan?
Living elsewhere doesn't seem to be an option for her.
March Madness
No such thing as too much college basketball!
Ohio St. ends Syracuse National Championship dreams :-(
Pretty soon it will be baseball season
Quite a month for audiobooks (in the car and on the treadmill), but
Reading time was way down.
Spent lots of time with my girls...
Three different colleges and three different spring breaks means
Undivided attention for all!

  1. The one thing I refused to do was clean up the patio furniture. It was like the last hold out but I kind of wish I did because there were some beautiful days for sitting outside. So glad you got to spend that time with each daughter. Happy reading in April!

    1. Stacy - We have since put the cushions away. Hoping it warms up again soon! I was initially disappointed when all the girls had different breaks, but it's turned out really well.

  2. I think this is great. Love it. I did similar things in March. I have had hyancith bloom in March before because my front faces the intense sun, so one or two pop up.

    But March was crazy!

  4. Great way to sum up a month. Made me think what I would use for each letter?

  5. Oh, you clever! Other than the boys in Orange, it sounds like it was a great month. Happy April!

    1. DS - It was a tough loss for the Orange, but a great month overall.

  6. I can't believe it's April already. My reading time was way down as well in March - here's to a better April!

    1. Nymeth - My husband has a conference later this month. I'm planning to go along, and will use the days for reading... can't wait!

  7. I love newsy posts and your ABCs really packs in a lot of information. I am not sure I would have the patience to do that. As much as I like your header picture, seems a little outdated given the crazy warm spring...

    1. Thomas - My header photo has been bothering me for weeks! I've been waiting for the 'perfect' day, but really need to just go take some photos regardless.

    1. Thanks, Nan! Our wicker patio furniture spends the winter in the shed, but the iron stuff stays out.

  11. Loved your approach to summing up the month--I may steal that idea for next month!

My oldest graduated in 2010 from high school, and my twins are due to graduate in 2012, so I know how exciting this time of year is. My two youngest are also enthralled with Manhattan.

These activities do take their toll on reading time, though.

    Enjoy your early spring!

    1. JaneGS - Feel free to do an alphabetical monthly review any time - they really are fun to write! Did I know you had twins, too? My oldest just turned 22 and will graduate from college next month. The twins will be 19 in a couple days and are both in their first year of college. One is still living at home and commuting. Very exciting times, but hard to fit in a lot of reading.

  12. I'm sorry to see how Ohio State made your list ;) Kansas ended our dream and it was painful to watch.

    1. Stacybuckeye - I just try to keep in mind that March Madness ends on a painful note for just about every fan. It was a great season for both Syracuse and Ohio St.
