Six in Six: 2015 Edition
Jo at The Book Jotter is running her Six in Six meme again this year. It's a fun way to summarize the first six months of your reading year by sorting books you've read into six different categories. Choose from the ones Jo suggests or feel free to create your own. The same book can obviously feature in more than one category.
I always enjoy this little exercise and participated in 2012 and 2013. I could have sworn I played along last year, too, but can't seem to find the post.

This is a really fun meme. I love lists, especially when they involve books. I enjoy making them and reading those created by others.
ReplyDeleteWith that said, I am afraid to compile my own list of sixes as I fear it will illustrate just how few books that I have finished this year.
Brian Joseph - I'm a huge fan of lists, too, and always look forward to this little exercise!
DeleteFun!!! Maybe I'll do this Monday.
ReplyDeleteBeth F - I hope you do!
DeleteI am impressed with all the classicsyou've read!
ReplyDeleteDiane - This has been a great year for classics, mostly thanks to the Barsetshire Chronicles group read.
DeleteOh - this looks fun and I've never seen it before! I have no idea how I'd come up with 6 classics and 6 nonfictions, though (I think I've read 1 classic so far this year and 2 nonfictions...saving a bunch of nonfictions for Nonfiction Nov). And - love seeing Nickolas Butler on your lists!
ReplyDeleteSarah - Part of the beauty of this is you can use categories of your own choosing - new releases, wealthy people behaving badly, etc. Nickolas Butler is my favorite new author this year!
DeleteWhat a fun way to recap the first half of the year.
ReplyDeleteKathy - I always enjoy this one!
DeleteGreat recap - I think I failed on the nonfiction count, tho. I should NOT even go look! I don't have time!!! but might be fun to do when I'm on the plane tonight... nah, I'll just read. :(
ReplyDeleteGOOD JOB
Care - You don't have to choose nonfiction as a category...bet you could come up with some pretty creative sixes ;-)
DeleteThis looks so fun that I may have to join in! I'm impressed with your lists and also with your Six in Translation list.
ReplyDeleteMonica - I'm sure this must be a record year for me and translations!
DeleteIt looks like you've had a great 1/2 year!
ReplyDeletePat - Yes, except for the slump last winter , it's been a great year.
DeleteYou've read a really interesting mixture of fiction, classics and non-fiction. Pleased to see Far From the Madding Crowd in one of your categories. I feel I need to re-read this then watch the new adaptation. I have also taken part in this meme: https://thebookwormchronicles.wordpress.com/2015/07/08/meme-six-in-six-2015/
ReplyDeleteThebookwormchronicles - The new adaptation of Far From the Madding Crowd was a beautiful movie, but left out a few key scenes from the novel.
DeleteThank you for the heads up about the film. I think I'll just wait till its being shown on television.
DeleteA lovely mix of old and new, translated and English language fiction. And quite a few of my personal favourites in there too! Lovely to meet you!
ReplyDeletefindingtimeto write - It's a pleasure to meet you, too! This meme is a great way to see how our reading is shaping up for the year. I was pleased to see such a mix contemporary, classic, and nonfiction works... especially since I have been mostly indulging my whims this year!
DeleteThis reminds me of how abysmally I'm doing on the reading of classics and nonfiction this year! Luckily, I have only one more scheduled review right now - maybe then I can get back to my own books and my goals. You've had a good year so far!
ReplyDeleteLisa - I was actually pretty shocked by this list. I've been reading mostly on a whim this year and have a nice mix of classics, contemporary, and nonfiction!
DeleteI really enjoyed The Lost Daughter. Hope u do as well.
ReplyDeleteDiane - I am loving it!!
DeleteI played along, but I had to pick different categories than you, because I haven't read six classics or six non-fiction books this year. I think I need to add a little variety. :)
ReplyDeleteCarrie - Oh, good! My categories have been a little different every year and being able to choose your own makes it even more fun. I'll be right over to check out your post :)
DeleteI loved reading these! I want to do it, too!
ReplyDeletePatty - Oh, I hope you do... I love reading them, too!!
DeleteThis is too fun to pass up! I'm going to give it a go tonight. I haven't read any of these books!
ReplyDeleteStacy - I enjoyed your post!!
DeleteGreat lists JoAnn, I especially like the inclusion of non-fiction titles and of books in translation. I enjoyed Station Eleven and The Girl on the Train. I really enjoy this meme, both reading everyone's lists and taking part, it's fun to do and doesn't take too long.
ReplyDeleteLinsday - This is probably the first time I've ever read six books in translation in six months, and quite possibly the entire year, too. My reading has been pretty atypical in 2015!
