FREE From Audible.com
Here's a tip from the Audiobooks group on Goodreads that I simply must share:
The End of the Affair by Graham Green, narrated by Colin Firth is available free through this link.
Be sure to use the above link. If you click through the audible homepage, the regular price is listed. You may need to be have an audible.com membership to take advantage of this offer, and it appears to be available to US listeners only.
I just downloaded my free copy of The End of the Affair. Let me know if it works for you.

Holy cow. Well, I was not the biggest fan of this book, but with Colin Firth reading it? You have me rethinking everything.
ReplyDeleteSandy - I read this about ten year ago with my book club and didn't love it, but I adore Colin Firth's voice! Maybe it will be better on audio...
Deletecool! you just need to have an amazon account, as audible is actually part of amazon. I just took part in a read-along of this book, so I would be curious to listen to Colin on this. see our questions and answers on this book: http://wordsandpeace.com/2012/08/01/the-end-of-the-affair-august-read-along/
ReplyDeleteWordsandPeace - Thank you! I knew there was a recent read-along, but couldn't remember where I'd seen it. Will read your posts as I listen to the corresponding setions.
DeleteTHANK YOU!! This has been on my wishlist as soon as they released it because I knew Colin would do a great job. Getting it free is the icing on the cake!! You are so sweet to tell us all about it!!!!
ReplyDeleteStaci - You're welcome! It's been on my wish list since the second it was released, too, so this offer really needed to be shared! If the first few minutes are any indication, we're all going to love it :-)
DeleteOoooh, baby. Sorry, that was shallow of me. I know this will be a very enriching literary experience. :)
ReplyDeleteI have a lapsed Audible membership -- in other words, I'm not paying the monthly fee anymore) but I still have an "account" so it worked for me. Thank you so much for letting us know!
Audrey -I'm afraid Colin Firth brings out the shallowness in all of us... any enriching literary experience is purely coincidental ;-) So glad you were able to take advantage of this offer!
DeleteThanks again JoAnn! Already got it. :)
ReplyDeleteTrish - I'm so glad the link worked for you! City of Women in my 'car audio' right now, but I'll start listening to this on my ipod right away.
DeleteIt worked! Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteSoftdrink - You're welcome - enjoy!!

ReplyDeleteIt worked, and I've been wanting to get back to some Green sometime soon, so thanks for sharing the link.
ReplyDeleteFay - I hope you enjoy it!
DeleteOh, no, I can't get it, but it would be fantastic... I love Greene, End of The Affair is one of my favorites, mostly due to Green's writing. I'm reading Heart of The Matter now and enjoying not so much what he tells, but rather how he tells it.
ReplyDeleteIvana - I am appreciating Greene much more this time around... wonder if it has something to do with Colin Firth? ;-)
DeleteI'm not a member of audible yet! ;( Love me some Colin Firth so I look forward to seeing what you think.
ReplyDeleteStacybuckeye - I love audible and have been a member for about ten years!
DeleteBummer, I'm a member of Audible UK ;) Hope it's a good one, I'm always looking for good audiobooks :)
ReplyDeleteChinoiseries - I'm sorry, thought it might be a US only offer. I wonder if Audible UK runs similar promotions...
DeleteI'm a member of Audible.com - but still not able to get it. Just get a message saying it's not available here. Sighs... I love Colin Firth...
ReplyDeleteChristina - I'm so sorry you can't access this offer - had a feeling it might be US only :-(
DeleteI was more than happy to PAY for this -- I can only say that if it's free, everyone should jump on it. One of my favorite audios ever!
ReplyDeleteCol - Had a feeling this might be tough for those who had already paid for the audio. I listened to it on the train this weekend - Colin Firth is amazing!
DeleteIt worked! I love Colin Firth and I've always wanted to read more Graham Greene (I've only read Travels with My Aunt), so thanks so much for this!
ReplyDeleteKaren K. - So glad this worked for you! I listened on the train this weekend and am hooked...
DeleteOh no, still for U.S. only!? I was given this as a Mother's Day gift by my son, only to learn that I couldn't have it when I went on to Audible. Don't know how much longer I can wait...
ReplyDeleteArti - I would be happy to burn this on CD and mail it to you - send me your address in an email.
DeleteMuch to my surprise it worked, I am thrilled! This book has been on my TBR since college, and I am now in my fifties. I love Colin Firth so very excited. My first downloaded audio on y ipad too! THANKS SO MUCH!!!
ReplyDeleteElisabeth - I'm SO glad the link worked for you! I hesitated publishing it on my blog because I wasn't sure if it was a limited offer. Colin Firth is one of my favorites, too.
DeleteI like Colin Firth as well but sadly the download would not work for me, I did try. A copyright issue.
ReplyDeleteLindyLouMac - So sorry this doesn't work outside of the US... darn copyright issues!
DeleteWith Colin Firth at the helm, it's got to be good! I just downloaded it, thank you!
ReplyDeleteNatalie - I just finished listening to Book 1 and love Colin Firth's narration. So glad you can enjoy this, too!
