Teaser Tuesdays: Cheri and The Last of Cheri

"They had known each other for twenty five years. Theirs was the hostile intimacy of light women, enriched and then cast aside by one man, ruined by another: the tetchy affection of rivals stalking one another's first wrinkle or white hair. Theirs was a friendship of two practical women of the world, both adepts at the money game; but one of them a miser, and the other a sybarite. These bonds count. Rather late in their day, a stronger bond had come to link them more closely: Cheri." (page 21)

by Colette

This was going to be part of my Paris in July reading, but the travel bug hit early. How about if I save the review for next month?

Teaser Tuesdays is sponsored by MizB at Should Be Reading.

  1. Good for you for starting the Paris vacation early! I still need to decide if I will have the opportunity to participate.

I hope Zelda continues to do better this week.

  4. Great teaser. I wonder what "light women" means. I like the idea of traveling via reading. Must be a new challenge?

  17. Molly - I didn't need much encouragement to head to Paris a couple week early! Zelda seems fully recovered now - thanks.

Book Bird Dog - Thanks, I will.

Joan Hunter Dunn - This is my first experience with Colette. I'm sure it won't be the last!

Margot - I was trying to figure out what 'light' meant in this context, too. This is more of an event than a challenge - anything French in the month of July (a Julia Child recipe would work). If you click on the button on my homepage, it'll take you to Book Bath's post.

DS - Do you have other Colette titles to recommend? I have a feeling I'll be looking for more...

    Aimee - Thanks!

Jlshall - This is my first time reading Colette.

Kathy Martin - Thanks for visiting. It's truly a barbed friendship... looking forward to reading more.

Sandy - Just couldn't hold off on my trip to Paris;-)

Hannah - And the book's not too bad so far, either!

Emma Michaels - So far, it is.

Nymeth - This is my first experience with Colette. So far, it's great.

Jennifer - I hope you do!

Zetor - This may be the only way I can visit Paris this year - lol!

Tiina - Yes, perfect 'after Paris' medicine. I'm just a little jealous ;-)

E.L. Fay - "frenemies"... exactly! Looking forward to seeing how this one develops.
