Wuthering Heights Wednesday: Week 8

Welcome to week 8 of the Wuthering Heights Wednesday read-along hosted by Jill of Fizzy Thoughts. This week we're covering chapters 22 - 24, or Volume II chapters 8 - 10.

This is a very brief post... no time for the summary and quotes. Our retired greyhound, Zelda, arrives today and there are still some preparations to be made.

So, Cathy is up to her old scheming tricks again. She's really something - reminds me more of her mother each week. Linton is ill (possibly dying) and totally insufferable. He bothers me even more than Heathcliff! What on earth does Cathy see in him?

It's time to finish this book and move on, but I'll continue to stick to the schedule - we have three more installments. Will return with a 'normal' post next week...

  1. And poor old Nelly continues to be in denial about Cathy's nature.

  2. Yes, Nelly really could have intervened at any time. She's an enabler!

  5. Amy - That Nelly! Seems like she could have stepped in so many times...

Whitney - Yes, definitely an enabler. Don't think too much of her, either.

Vivienne - Will have some pictures soon. Zelda arrived today and we have fallen in love with her. These characters, on the other hand...

Staci - Brat may be an understatement.

  6. Oooh it is doggy day! Can't wait for pictures!

Yes, this was pretty much how I felt at the end of the book. Put them all out of their misery. I don't know how any of them found anything redeeming in anybody.

  7. Best of luck with Zelda! Wait until she gets a whiff of your lake...hope she likes the water!

As for WH...yes, things are quite bleak aren't they.

  8. Sandy - Yes... I'm ready to be done with all of them! Pictures of Zelda coming soon - she's a tough one to photograph.

Darlene - Zelda has been here exactly 24 hours and we love her already. She' still trying to decide whether she likes that lake or not - very funny to watch!

  9. I may just finish this one over the long weekend. I am sort of getting tired of their antics.

  10. ah, love Wuthering Heights. I would happily have done a reread had I known about Wuthering Wednesdays from the start. Can't wait to see piccies of Zelda - its so strange, since I bought a pug puppy recently all I want to do is look at pictures of dogs!

  11. Ti - I'm getting tired of all their drama, too... don't think I'll be able to finish this weekend though.

Aimee - This read-along has really added to my enjoyment of the book. It would have been fun to have you reading along. Just posted some photos of Zelda today - I'm noticing dogs a lot more lately, too!
