Introducing Lakeside Kitchen

You might remember a March post, Baking As Therapy, that featured Twin A and her Oreo Truffles. She was overwhelmed by your comments, so positive and encouraging, and inspired to embark on a new adventure. We have launched Lakeside Kitchen - a mother/daughter project that will chronicle our culinary adventures.

We've had fun setting up the blog and posting a few pictures and recipes. Margaret (formerly known as Twin A) loves to bake and is beginning to experiment with breads. I'm hoping to include a main dish recipe each week, too. Lakeside Kitchen is a work-in-progress, but we invite you to stop by and take a look.

Here's Margaret modeling her new "Practically Perfect Cook" apron. We saw Mary Poppins in New York last weekend - the apron was a souvenir we couldn't resist! And she's baking Peanut Butter Oatmeal cookies...

Weekend Cooking, hosted at Beth Fish Reads, is open to anyone with a food-related post to share: Book (novel, nonfiction) reviews, cookbook reviews, movie reviews, recipes, random thoughts, gadgets, fabulous quotations, photographs. If your post is even vaguely foodie, feel free to grab the button, head over to Beth Fish Reads, and link up anytime over the weekend.

  1. JoAnn, what a fabulous idea! I just checked you guys out and I will definitely be back when I have a few extra minutes. Love that banner/header you two chose too. Just perfect! Congratulations to you and Margaret both.

Envying you to both that apron and the Mary Poppins experience. We have to wait until this summer when it comes to the Kennedy Center. Happy reading and baking!

Margot - I'm so glad you like Lakeside Kitchen! Margaret's delicious baking is making it harder for me to lose a few pounds, so I'm thinking about featuring a few Weight Watchers recipes :-)

Kals - Thanks! My cooking skills have definitely evolved over the years, but it seems like Margaret was just born with them!

Caite - I love bread! We'll see how our experimenting goes...

  13. Bookssnob - LOL! The blog is a little dessert-heavy at the moment, but I'm planning on adding a main dish each week.

Gavin - Chocolate and raspberry is my favorite flavor combination! Those bars were very easy, too.

Beth F - Oh, good... we're having a good time with it!

Verity - It was Margaret's idea...

Sandy - Aww, thanks. She was so excited about this, and who knows what it will lead to. I certainly don't want to dampen that enthusiasm!

Book Psmith - Thanks so much for following! We're still a work in progress, trying to figure out what we want to do, but it's coming along.

  14. What a fun thing to do together. I'm following, too, even though I don't necessarily love to cook or bake :) But, I do love to THINK about liking to cook or bake after seeing yummy pictures.

  15. YUM!!What a great idea--my salivary glands are working overtime (baked French toast, chocolate raspberry squares, that Bundt cake...swoon). Love the apron, too. Also the fact that you plan your meals for the week. I always serve Whatever Falls Out of the Refrigerator First...

Kudos to Margaret, and to Mom!!
