"After all, summer was over. It had abandoned us, leaving behind a feeling of dissatisfaction, and taking with it all those too oft unfulfilled beach-day aspirations of a brown-skinned, primitive freedom."The Other Typist

I just got this book in the post the other day and am looking forward to reading it.
ReplyDeletePam - Enjoy!!
DeleteI'd really like to get my hands on a copy of this one :)
ReplyDeleteJennifer - Hope you can get one. I did a read/listen combo - the audio was very well done, too.
DeleteIt is one twisty turny book!
ReplyDeleteSandy - It sure was! I'm still trying to make sense of the end...
DeleteBeautiful! It certainly takes me back to endless childhood days at Priest Lake in North Idaho, where we would tent camp for a week or two at a time.
ReplyDeleteLynne - Same here, only not quite so exotic a setting... and definitely no tents ;-)
DeleteThis might be mine.... "Into this girlie court of late-night dancing, schoolgirl gossip and immature politics walked Albert.' (from Bertie, by Jane Ridley).
ReplyDeleteAudrey - Oh, that's wonderful! Poor Albert...
DeleteI just finished The Other Typist and loved it! The plot is so twisty with beautiful storytelling. Great Sunday Sentence!
ReplyDeleteWhitneyB - Agreed! This was a great book... I'm finding you can never go wrong with the Amy Einhorm imprint.
DeleteI am on another long library list - and looking forward to this one!
ReplyDeleteLisa - Hope the wait isn't too much longer :(
DeleteI've been reading many reviews of this one!!
ReplyDeleteStaci - This book seems to be everywhere lately!
DeleteWhat a great passage! While it may not be the end of summer, my husband and I are heading home after a wonderful week in the Pacific Northwest. I'm a bit sad...
ReplyDeleteLes - The next sentence was just as good - "The weather would turn cold before we knew it and drive us back into the cramped and stuffy steam-heated rooms we called civilization." - but has that hint of sadness, too. Glad you had a great trip!
DeleteWhat a terrific sentence. If that's an example of the author's writing, this is a book I definitely want to read soon.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing, JoAnn!
Amy - I really liked the book, and this is one of many sentences that stood out. Hope you get a chance to read it soon.
