What's the funniest book you've read recently?
My answer:
This question has lead me to a startling discovery. I don't really read funny books - it seems that I prefer to listen to them! A quick glance through my books read in the last year or so shows that all funny books have been audios. The funniest were:
by David Sedaris
-read by the author
by Nora Ephron
-read by the author
Both of these books were laugh-out-loud funny and made my drive time fly by.

Oh yes, we have read the same book :)
ReplyDeleteThe second one sounds good too. I'm convinced I need to read more funny books now.
Oh, they would be VERY funny books! I don't think I've ever laughed so hard whilst reading as that toilet scene in The Clothes They Stood Up In. I couldn't see for the tears!
ReplyDeleteI keep seeing Sedaris mentioned, but haven't read any yet. I think I'm going to have to order some of his audio books soon.
ReplyDeleteI truly gotta read funny books!

Both of those are great books. I love Nora Ephron and after reading that book I pledged to read some more.
ReplyDeleteI gave my mom I Feel Bad About My Neck for Christmas and she said it was funny. I will have to get it from her.
ReplyDeleteI wondered if the Sedaris book would be good. I saw it at my local book store. Thanks for the post.
ReplyDeleteDavid Sedaris is on a lot of lists. I'll look for him in the library.
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to read

I've got a kick out of anything by David Sedaris! :)
ReplyDeleteA friend read Nora's book and howled with laughter!! I haven't read either one but will keep them in mind when I'm in need of fun!!
ReplyDeleteVioletcrush - Isn't Sedaris great? I'd like to listen to another of his books soon.
ReplyDeleteDarlene - That scene in The Clothes They Stood Up in will stay with me for a long, long time - it was hysterical!!
Jackie (farmlanebooks) - Sedaris is so good on audio! His delivery adds much to the humor.
Gautami - Either of these would be great to start with.
Dot - Humor really works well for me on audio...especially when read by the author.
Susan B. Evans - I don't think you can go wrong with either of these.
Amy Reads Good Books - I was lucky enough to go to one of Sedaris' shows last winter. He's even better in person!
Anthonynorth - I wonder why that is...
ReplyDeleteLinda - That was the first Nora Ephron I read, and I loved it!
Nise' - You should definitely borrow it from her. If you get the audio, you'll be laughing out loud while you're walking!
Kerri - I don't think you can go wrong with any of Sedaris' books.
CeeCee - I hope you can find one of Sedaris' books or audiobooks. If you're a fan of audio, I would highly recommend them.
Matt - Sedaris is so funny. When I attended one of his shows last winter, my face actually hurt from laughing so much! His delivery is absolutely perfect.
Staci - My Mom listen to Ephron's book, too, and she laughed so hard she cried!
Both are great choices, they certainly had me giggling.
