I'm not baking much these days (seems like we all want to lose a pound or two), but a piece of grilled fruit certainly won't derail any diet plan. I'd recently come across a recipe for Grilled Peaches with Rosemary & Balsamic Vinegar on The Framed Table and decided to give it a try last night. Besides, Jill had already clued me in to the fact that it was National Eat a Peach Day.
I cut the peaches in half, removed the pits, placed them on a grill-rack lightly sprayed with Pam, and cooked them for 5 minutes on medium-high heat.
Flip them over and grill for another 4 minutes.
Transfer to a serving dish and sprinkle with fresh rosemary.
Drizzle with high-quality balsamic vinegar and enjoy.
A delicious flavor combination!
Have you every grilled fruit? Do you have a favorite recipe or combination?

Well, we think the best peaches are from South Carolina! Gaffney has even made their water tower look like a peach.
ReplyDeleteThose grilled peaches look delicious!
Kathy - I wonder if I've ever had a SC peach. Don;t think you can go wrong with anything fresh and local!
DeleteAh, I hate when people who have access to Wegman's remind the rest of us that we don't! :--)
ReplyDeleteYes re grilled peach halves - I've seen it done with bourbon, pecans, and topped with ice cream too!
Jill - My husband did ask where the ice cream was last night...
DeleteLooks yummy! Thanks for sharing the recipe.
ReplyDeletePat - You're welcome. I like a sweet dessert without many calories.
DeleteMmmmm. We did grilled peaches with balsamic reduction a little while ago, but some fresh rosemary from the garden would be an inspired addition next time!
ReplyDeleteLaurie - I was thinking a balsamic reduction would have been even better. Next time...
DeleteI've never grilled fruit, but I have sautéed it, and I know it's delicious that way; Your peaches look so beautiful, and I'm sure they taste as good as they look!
ReplyDeleteAudrey - I'll have to try to sauté fruit this winter... the grill won't be on then!
DeleteThat looks amazing! There's an orchard a few miles away that has delicious peaches but I keep forgetting to stop by. Thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteKatherine - I'll be they're even more delicious freshly picked!
DeletePeaches aren't in season here so I'll have to make do with canned.... sigh. Cheers from Carole's Chatter
ReplyDeleteCarole - The world certainly is a big place! I'm often reminded of our opposite seasons while reading Weekend Cooking posts...
DeleteYum! What a creative way to have peaches. I've never thought about grilling them before.
ReplyDeleteDiana - I think I'll try pineapple next.
DeleteIt has never occurred to me to grill fruit but these look so good. As we're still in winter I can think about this for a few months until our peaches come back into season. Hard to think about all the fruit available now in northern hemisphere while ours is still asleep. Enjoy
ReplyDeletePam - That always seems so strange to me, too, when I consider our reversed seasons.
DeleteAn interesting combination of flavours and I love the simplicity - definitely something to try when summer comes round.
ReplyDeleteCat - That was a wonderful flavor combination! Next time I'll try a balsamic reduction instead of straight balsamic vinegar.
DeleteI've always wanted to try grilling peaches! Now I'm regretting not getting any at the farmer's market yesterday. Next weekend!
ReplyDeleteHeather - I'm sure there will still be peaches around for another week or so. Hope you get to try it!
DeletePeach season is always too short. I love a juicy peach. We have baked them with honey and vanilla but have not tried grilling them yet. Thanks for the tip on grilling time.
ReplyDeleteTina - I'll bet they are delicious with honey and vanilla... a whole different favor experience!
DeleteAnd we here in Pennsylvania love peaches from Maryland! At least my grocery carries peaches from California (not a Wegman's!) and they are always hard! No fruit markets close to us. That should be a pre-requisite when we move I think! Have never tried grilling fruit yours look delish!
ReplyDeletePeggy Ann - I never buy the California peaches either. Maybe they need to sit around and ripen for a few days, but I'm never that patient, lol!
DeleteWow, these look amazing. Ugh, I miss my grill.
ReplyDeleteDiane - At least you got to grill at the lake :) Loved that post!
DeleteThose look delicious. Wish we had nice enough weather in the UK at the moment to cook out!
ReplyDeleteEmma - We've had horrible weather or the last week and were dodging raindrops when we grilled the peaches. Looks like things have finally turned around today though.
DeleteI always hear about grilled peaches, but I've never tried it. We have fabulous fresh local peaches right now here in DE - yum! My favorite fruit.

Book By Book
Sue - You should definitely give this a try! I'll be picking up more peaches later today.
DeleteOur stores have Colorado peaches, but I haven't had any this summer. Hope to remedy that this week. The only fruit I've ever grilled is pineapple. Yummy!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week. Our weather has been hot and muggy, but it's not terrible in the shade. I sat on the deck for over six hours today, reading and working on book reviews. I love summer! :)
Les - We've grilled pineapple before and it was delicious! I've also seen recipes for grilled fruit kebobs... may give those a try when the girls are home this weekend.
DeleteA day on the deck sounds pretty perfect to me. Last week was unbelievably cool, wet, and cloudy but the last two days have been beautiful. I feel much better being able to go for a walk in the morning. Enjoy the last week of summer :)
This sounds so good. We were going to do grilled fruit back at 4th of July but something came up. Like cake. Definitely want to try!
ReplyDeleteAndi - Haha! My husband was looking for the ice cream to go with his grilled fruit :)
DeleteOk weird. I swear I was here and left a comment -- so glad I checked back to get the recipe for tonight's dinner. Anyway, what I said was these sound so wonderful that I decided to pick up extra peaches just to grill. In fact, I did pick up extra peaches and we will be grilling tonight.
ReplyDeleteBeth F - That's really strange because I thought you left a comment, too. Blogger has been a little strange lately... hope you enjoy the grilled peaches!
DeleteI think I've eaten grilled fruit in restaurants but don't remember ever grilling it myself- your grilled peaches look delicious. The rosemary and peach sounds an intriguing combination.
ReplyDeleteLouise - The sweetness of the peach was a perfect contrast with the balsamic and rosemary!
