A perfect description of a rather melancholy time for me: the end of summer. I liked this book so much when I read it about ten years ago. Thanks for reminding me.
I've always wanted to read this book but for some reasons it just got delayed and delayed. This first sentence speaks so much. And, a great meme... Sunday Sentence.
As much as I love summer, I'm usually ready for autumn by the time the last day of summer arrives. By then, I'm tired of watering, weeding, deadheading flowers. I'm ready for soups and chili and snuggling under quilts while reading by lamplight. But I'm not quite there yet. I'm just getting back into biking. And with our cooler temps and rain, my garden doesn't look quite so tired. So strange for late July!
I'm anxious to give this book a read. I think Andi recommended it way back. Possibly a decade ago!
Les - I love summer, too, but fall is my favorite time of year! I'm loving the cooler weather we're having - almost chilly at night. This book was just 'meh' for me until the second half. I ended up loving it.
What a nice sentence!
ReplyDeleteI do like that sentence!
ReplyDeleteVery nice. A perfect description of the last day of summer.
ReplyDeleteSince I moved to Texas, I look forward to the end of summer in a whole new way :)
