Nancy Butler (adapter), Jane Austen (author), Hugo Petrus (Illustrator)
product description:
Tailored from the adored Jane Austen classic, Marvel Comics is proud to present Pride & Prejudice! Two-time Rita Award-Winner Nancy Butler and fan-favorite Hugo Petras faithfully adapt the whimsical tale of Lizzy Bennet and her loveable-if-eccentric family, as they navigate through tricky British social circles.
Wow, I haven't heard of this graphic novel before. I am going to have to check it out!!
ReplyDeleteMine is here.
This looks intriguing. And I am REALLY looking forward to your review of Nine Parts of Desire.
ReplyDeleteSomehow it's hard to wrap my head around Jane Austen in graphic form. I hope you are enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteMy teaser is here
lolololol I shoudl get this one for my HS library!
ReplyDeleteHere's mine
That's a fabulous teaser! One of my favorite books. I should see if I can find this somewhere.
ReplyDeleteThat looks really cool! I'll have to check it out. Great teaser!
ReplyDeleteHere's mine.
Hope you're enjoying this one. Don't think it's my cuppa tea, but it makes an interesting teaser!
ReplyDeleteHere's mine.
Uhh, I think I am a little weirded out here. :) Never imagined Marvel and Jan Austen in the same conversation before. Like looking at this image though. Something re-imagined as I would never re-imagine it. Intriguing.
ReplyDeleteI confess I've never read a graphic novel all the way through. This one sounds good tho. Hope you'll visit My teaser: The Cuban Chronicles
ReplyDeleteOh my god..this is awesome and I'm a little jealous :)
ReplyDeleteThis book is on my wish-list, though I've never read a graphic novel till now!
Interesting. My TT: http://www.rundpinne.com/2010/01/teaser-tuesdays-knit-purl-die.html
ReplyDeleteI have never read a graphic novel before, but I may have to get this one :)
ReplyDeleteMy teaser this week is creepy but funny! Here's a link.
This looks like way too much fun!
ReplyDeleteFabulous teaser, JoAnn! A visual one for a change is such a great idea.
ReplyDeleteI am tempted to buy this for my boyfriend but I think he may prefer to re-watch the BBC adaptation with me instead!
I haven't seen this book around yet. Looks very intriguing.
ReplyDeleteIs is any better as a graphic novel? My teaser is from Brideshead Revisited.
ReplyDeleteI own all of these..loved them!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't heard of this one either! Looks fascinating!
ReplyDeleteSay it isn't so....first those zombies and now this. Really, it's too much...where are my smelling salts?
ReplyDeleteJess - Jane Austen graphic - who would have thought!
ReplyDeleteStephanie - My book club meets Friday to discuss Nine Parts, so I'll post after that.
Kaye - I definitely like the 'real' Jane better, but this was too good to pass up.
Lisa - This would be perfect for a HS library!!
Amy - It's interesting to see how Austen translates to the graphic form.
Andrea - It's definitely worth a look.
jlshall - It's not a replacement for Jane, but is an interesting take on the novel.
Frances - That was my feeling, too. Jane Austen and Marvel in the same sentence seems incredible!! The images aren't as pleasing to my eye as the other few graphic novels I've read.
Book Dilettante - If you like classics, this might be a good graphic novel to start with.
Kals - This might be the perfect graphic novel for an Austen fan to start with.
ReplyDeleteJennifer - thanks
Susan B. Evans - I was surprised to learn that there are many classics that have been made into graphic novels.
Stacybuckeye - My 19 yr.old daughter was laughing out loud at this!
Paperback Reader - I'm sure your boyfriend would prefer to watch the BBC movie with you, but the graphic novel might still be fun.
Dar - It's fun, but not a replacement for the real thing!
Pusserboots - P&P is my all-time favorite, so the graphic is definitely not better than the novel for me :-)
Staci - You get the credit (blame?) for this purchase. I first saw these on your blog!
Laurel-Rain Snow - Definitely a different take on an old favorite..
Darlene - LOL! I'm afraid it's so... the graphic novel is one thing, but I draw the line at zombies.
It's so funny that you posted this. I just ordered this today from Amazon. How ironic! :)
ReplyDeleteBecky - That's too funny! Hope you enjoy it... this is a whole new way to look at P&P.
ReplyDeleteI really like the art! Will definitely keep this one in mind.
ReplyDeleteOoh, as a P&P fan I don't know if I'm going to like this. The drawings look too modern!
ReplyDeleteNymeth - This is my first 'classic' as a graphic novel.
ReplyDeleteMrs. B. - The drawings are very modern... just look at those Bennet sisters - lol! This was interesting, but it'll never replace the real thing.
i've never read a graphic novel. This might be a god one to start with
ReplyDeleteBookmagic - I've only read a few graphic novels and although P&P is my favorite book, this (surprisingly) is not my favorite graphic novel! That's still Ethel & Ernest by Raymond Briggs, author of the children's book The Snowman.
ReplyDeleteOh my. Now this I have not heard of! Jane Austen meets graphic novels- it had to happen sooner or later!
ReplyDeleteMarie - You knew it was only a matter of time, LOL!
