"Agatha remembered when she was at school, she vowed that when she had her first pay cheque, she would walk into a sweet-shop and buy all the chocolate she wanted. By the time it happened, her desires had focused on a pair of purple high-heeled shoes with bows. She enjoyed having enough money that enabled her to buy what she wanted." (page 85)

This is the first Agatha Raisin mystery, and a delight to read!
Lovely teaser. I'm wondering now what I bought with my first pay cheque but I really can't remember. I love Agatha and I particularly liked this one - I hope you do too!
ReplyDeleteThe title of your books cracks me up!
ReplyDeletejuicy buys
ReplyDeletehere's mine
Purple high heels sounds like the winner to me :-) Great teaser.

I will check out the series.
ReplyDeleteTeaser Tuesdays: The Brutal Telling by Louise Penny
So glad you are enjoying it:) I had the misguided idea I would buy a leather jacket with my first few paychecks (when I was 15) but when I saw how little I had left after putting away the obligatory 33% into savings, my desires became a little less grand.
ReplyDeleteI saved all the money from my first summer long babysitting job to buy my own school clothes instead of letting my mother choose. Funny how I think her taste has gotten better over time.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a fun book and an interesting series.
My teaser is up at Calico Contemplations.
Oh I think I share that sentiment!
ReplyDeleteI love the title - I think that alone would make me buy it!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a fun mystery. Here is my teaser:

ReplyDeleteTook me back to my first paycheck...I was in high school and wanted a cashmere sweater.
My teaser is here:

Those shoes sound good. Here is mine
ReplyDeleteGreat teaser - amazing how our tastes go from chocolate to shoes.
ReplyDeleteGreat title! Here is my teaser for this week.
ReplyDeleteI saved all of my de-tassling money for a pair of Jordache jeans. That is right up there with purple high heels, in my book!
ReplyDeleteFunny how your desires change over time. It would depend on my mood that particular day whether it would be chocolate or shoes.
ReplyDeleteA nice teaser, and I love the title!
ReplyDeleteThe title was a teaser in itself!
ReplyDeleteMy teaser is here
Fleurfisher - Book Psmith introduced me to Agatha, and I'm so glad she did!
ReplyDeleteReviewsbylola - I love the title!
Lisa - Either chocolate or shoes works for me ;-)
MarceJ - with bows, no less!
Gautami - They are quick, fun, cozy mysteries.
Book Psmith - Thank you again for introducing me to Agatha! I especially love the setting - it reminds me of our day in the Cotswolds. So beautiful!
Calico Crazy - I saved all my babysitting money for clothes, too.
Novelinsights - I love shoes...and chocolate!
Rhapsodyinbooks - The book is just as enjoyable as the title, and exactly what I'm in the mood to read right now.
Diane - Oh, it is!
Laurel-Rain Snow - I agree...about both the title and the shoes!
ReplyDeleteBluestocking - Purple heels... what's not to like, lol!
Crystal - Priorities seem to change over time. I still love chocolate, but have moved on from Nestles crunch bars!
Beth - That title is an attention-getter, lol!
Sandy - At 18, I saved forever for a pair of Calvin Klein jeans. Wish I could still wear the same size now!
Christine - Chocolate and shoes are both still important to me, too!
Nymeth - Thanks!
Marg - That title is a catchy one!
Tough choice between chocolate and cute shoes! I would probably like this series, so I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
ReplyDeleteStacybuckeye - My choice between those two would vary from day to day...guess I'd really want both! Hope to finish the book within the next few days.
ReplyDeleteI recently read this for the Cozy mystery challenge and LOVED Agatha. I will definitely be visiting her little village again!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by :)
What a hard choice shoes or chocolate!! What did she get?
ReplyDeleteI would've went with the chocolate!! LOL!!
ReplyDeleteHow true!
ReplyDeleteThis is a fantastic teaser! Love how her tastes have changed! Maybe she'll buy the shoes AND the chocolate! lol
ReplyDeleteThis book is making my TBR list. Thank you =o)
I love the sound of this title - Quiche of death! Quiche always used to appear at church fetes when I was little and I hated it.
ReplyDeleteI saved my first pay cheque - how sad. It was only about £40 as I used to work 4 hours a week, for £3 an hour.
Kim - I will be reading more of Agatha, too.
ReplyDeleteNise' - I guess she went for the shoes.
Staci - It's a tough choice...my answer would vary from day to day!
Darlene - Funny how true it is!
Amy - I know I would want both. Hope you enjoy Agatha, too!
Verity - I like quiche but my husband doesn't, so I rarely make it. The book has me thinking about making one this weekend...just hope it doesn't turn out like the 'quiche of death'!
This is a great teaser! I'm also a little spooked out because this is the season of eating. I'll have my heart in the mouth when I see a quiche or a pie. :)
ReplyDeleteAgatha is one of my favorites! Sometimes I want to shake some sense into her, but I still really like her.
ReplyDeleteMatt - LOL! We are getting into that season of eating, and I'll be avoiding quiche ;-)
ReplyDeleteBeth F - Agatha is wonderful! I know I'll be reading more of the series and look forward to getting to know her better.
