Teaser Tuesdays - October 27

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme hosted by Miz B at Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Here's how it works:
-grab your current read
-share two teaser sentences (avoid spoilers!)
-be sure to include the title and author so other TT participants can add the book to their tbr list if they like your teaser
-leave a comment with your link at Should Be Reading

My Teaser:

"That was a memorable day to me, for it made great changes in me. But, it is the same with any life. Imagine one selected day struck out of it, and think how different its course would have been. Pause you who read this, and think for a moment of the long chain of iron or gold, of thorns or flowers, that would never have bound you, but for the formation of the first link on one memorable day." Great Expectations
by Charles Dickens

When I marked this passage, I didn't realize how perfectly it fits with the cover!

  1. Great Expectations was the first Dickens I read and that was a lovely reminder. I haven't seen a cover quite like that - one of the bunuses of blogging is seeing so many different covers - but doesn't it fit well?!

  15. Fleurfisher - This is my first time through Great Expectations, and I just love it! I picked up that edition at the library book sale a few years ago (and am just getting around to it).

Nise' - I was wondering if I'd ever get to it, but two of my daughters just loved this and recommended it to me.

Diane - I've never seen that cover in a store, but happened to find it at the library sale a few years ago.

Andrea - Dickens does have a way with words!

Beth F - Thanks. Fall is a beautiful time around here!

Marie Burton - Don't know how I managed to get through high school without reading it!

Jennifer - This is my third Dickens (A Tale of Two Cities and A Christmas Carol are the others). I'm thinking Bleak House next...

Laurel-Rain Snow - Dickens is one of a kind!
