Teaser Tuesday - August 11

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by Miz B at Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Here's how it works:
-grab your current read
-open to a random page
-share two teaser sentences from somewhere on the page (avoid spoilers!)
-be sure to include the title and author so other TT participants can add the book to their tbr list if they like your teaser
-leave a comment with your link at Should Be Reading

My teaser:

From Two Guys Read Jane Austen by Steve Chandler and Terrence N. Hill

The 'two guys' are reading Pride and Prejudice. One, for the third time.

"...I've been thinking a lot about Nabokov's reprimand to re-read the great novels and to bathe in them and not wade through them. It would be almost a heroic act to do such a thing in this culture we live in today. To actually bathe in the re-reading of a great novel. Do you know anybody who does that? Who thinks they have the time?" (page 69)

  2. I'm so glad that you chose a teaser from this title! I'm thinking that if that fellow has a lot of time to think about the statement he should just be bathing in the book:)

  5. WOW -- that is such a great book quote for any bibliophile! Hmmm....I may borrow it and use it the first day of school in my senior English class.

  7. Great thought...a lot of us feel that we hardly have enough time to read all of the books we want to get to, let alone to bathe in one. What a luxury that would feel like!! Excellent teaser!

  10. Bookbirddog - I first heard of this from another blogging friend...love book blogger recommendations!

Darlene - There have been lots of quotes that would've made good teasers in this one.

Paperback Reader - Hope to finish this up within the next couple of days.

    Gautami - I know Austen isn't for everyone. :-(

Fleurfisher - I am enjoying the book. It's like a correspondence book club!

  11. Molly - Reading that passage makes me want to find a copy of Nabokov's lectures.

Kals - Hope you can find it, but I had a hard time locating it, too. There weren't any copies in my library system or the local stores, so I ended up ordering online.

Staci - That line does have a luxurious feel about it, doesn't it? lol!

Susan B. Evans - Thanks. I'll stop by soon...

Dar - They do go off on some very funny tangents...you just never know where discussing Jane will lead!!

  15. What an interesting book. I am trying to picture what 2 guys who read Jane Austen must be like let alone guys who read it multiple times. I can't imagine my husband reading one of her books though I love them.

  16. Great teaser. I haven't read this book but I love Austen -- I should put this on my list for the Everything Austen challenge.

  17. Catherine - I can't exactly see my husband reading Jane, either. He did attempt Northanger Abbey before our trip to Bath last year, but it wasn't much of an effort. In fact, it's become a family joke!

Beth F. - I ended up finishing the book last night and hope to get a review up this weekend.
