Seriously loved every sentence. I bought Cakes and Ale but haven't gotten to it yet. Need to do that!Melodyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08151339860580266808noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7080965436653289398.post-89904143114303613062013-01-28T11:23:30.808-05:002013-01-28T11:23:30.808-05:00Thomas - Oh, yes. Just checked amazon and found all of Maugham's book available free for download. I received a kindle paperwhite for Christmas and am really surprised at how much I love it. A little late, but it looks like I've finally joined the 21st century!JoAnnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13691864361197071517noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7080965436653289398.post-70374203219258253572013-01-28T09:52:47.378-05:002013-01-28T09:52:47.378-05:00Razor's Edge is fantastic. Cakes and Ale was good but somewhat forgettable. Up at the Villa is suspenseful. So many good books waiting for you.Thomas Hogglestockhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14284352537015457974noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7080965436653289398.post-57185951256858660762013-01-25T21:29:42.504-05:002013-01-25T21:29:42.504-05:00I am not fond of Mr. M. but this day is also the b...I am not fond of Mr. M. but this day is also the birthday of my favorite writer, dear Virginia W.Nanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15547916206007733970noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7080965436653289398.post-55214113738143114292013-01-25T17:40:34.719-05:002013-01-25T17:40:34.719-05:00I read a short story by Maugham in high school and...I read a short story by Maugham in high school and remember being entranced and thinking "I need to read more by this author!" Razor's Edge has been on my TBR shelf for a long time, but I never seem to get around to it, mainly because I think of his stories as unrelentingly somber and while that is okay for a short story, an entire novel of grim puts me off.

I honestly don't know what the first book I reviewed was...I'll have to check. And I'll have to check out your first as well! :)JaneGShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11094501834387622997noreply@blogger.com
