It was a bit sad and gloomy but at the same time, so beautiful, interesting and fascinating. He is fantastic with words!<br />(http://christinarosendahl.wordpress.com/2012/01/17/orhan-pamuk-snow-review/)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7080965436653289398.post-70341446504976044502012-06-08T08:11:00.322-04:002012-06-08T08:11:00.322-04:00Riadergirl3 - Is there anything better than readin...Riadergirl3 - Is there anything better than reading a book at the location in which is set? I also read another of his books, a book of essays, Other Colours. Much like Istanbul, a little somber, but still readable.raidergirl3https://www.blogger.com/profile/03629915042716259349noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7080965436653289398.post-54303540590713963622012-06-07T15:22:48.408-04:002012-06-07T15:22:48.408-04:00Great post, very interesting! Since Downton Abbey, I've become much more interested in WW1 era England, too. Howards End is a favorite. The Remains of the Day is on my list to read. Will look forward to your post.JoAnnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13691864361197071517noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7080965436653289398.post-3571144661983552732012-06-07T11:12:23.219-04:002012-06-07T11:12:23.219-04:00Softdrink - That's not very encouraging...Softdrink - That's not very encouraging...JoAnnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13691864361197071517noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7080965436653289398.post-78297504233792456452012-06-07T10:47:32.952-04:002012-06-07T10:47:32.952-04:00Thanks for Orhan Pamuk's birthday notice. And Part 1 sounds like Brideshead Revisited to which I'm listening. Ever since Downton Abbey ends earlier this year, I've been familiarizing myself with England during WW1 and the period, books and films. Have finished a few... will post about them later. Any recommendations?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7080965436653289398.post-85435823622261907822012-06-07T10:31:15.322-04:002012-06-07T10:31:15.322-04:00I've read 1/2 of Istanbul.
